Final Exam Grade Calculator
The final exam calculator answers the most common exam-season question: "What do I need to get on my final to pass (or get an A)?" Enter your current grade, how much the final is worth, and your target grade — the calculator tells you the exact score you need.
The Formula
The math behind the final grade calculator:
Example: current grade 82%, final worth 30%, want 85%: needed = (0.85 − 0.82 × 0.70) ÷ 0.30 = 91.3%
Weighted Grade Calculator
Switch to "Weighted grades" mode to calculate your current course grade when different assignments count for different percentages. Enter each category (homework, midterm, quizzes, labs) with its score and weight — the calculator returns your overall weighted average.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I need over 100% on the final?
It means your current grade is too low to reach that target, even with a perfect final. You'd need to find out if there are extra credit opportunities, or adjust your goal grade downward. The calculator will show results above 100% so you can see exactly how far off you are.
What if my weights don't add up to 100%?
In the weighted grades mode, the calculator uses relative weights — so it still gives a correct result even if your weights don't sum to exactly 100. The formula divides each weighted score by the total weight, normalizing automatically.
My professor drops the lowest grade — how do I account for that?
Simply leave out the lowest assignment when entering your grades in weighted mode. If you're not sure which score will be dropped, enter all grades and mentally compare the result with and without each low score.
